It seems unlikely that the use of live influenza vaccines would be permitted in poultry (Alexander, 1982). Therefore this work needs to be repeated with inactivated vaccines. However, as two of the viruses used as vaccines, duck/Alberta (H1 N1) and equinefMiami (H3 N8) did not appear to grow in chickens and had to be given parenterally to stimulate a significant immune response, there is no reason to believe that inactivated vaccines should not also be efficacious.
